872,937. Sliver guides. SACO-LOWELL SHOPS. July 20, 1959, No. 24812/59. Class 120(1) Carding machine calender rolls have one roller of a pair supported at one end only and a conical sliver guide in front of the rolls with a cut-away portion so arranged that sliver may be introduced to the rolls from the side and in to the guide without threading through the guide throat. A gate 45 covers the cut-away portion 44 in operation and a cover 40 facilitates introduction of the sliver between the rolls 36, 37.
