Abstract

630,036. Fibre-drafting mechanism. FRASER & SONS, Ltd., D., and FRASER, H. June 3, 1947, No. 14722. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (ii)] A mechanism for drafting fibrous material in a textile spinning frame includes retaining means, drawing rollers, a travelling apron or aprons operating between said retaining means and said drawing rollers and lateral guides confining the material whilst it is in contact with the apron or aprons to effect condensing of the fibres. As shown a slipper 27 of inverted channel form in cross section and weighted at 28 rests on the sliver 31 whilst it is in contact with the apron 26 between retaining rollers 20 and 21 and drawing rollers 22 and 23. The side limbs of the slipper may extend downwardly to enshroud a narrower apron. In a further modification, a twin apron arrangement, with guide plates on either side confines the material.
