Abstract

682,208. Roving guides. AMBLER SUPERDRAFT, Ltd. Jan. 29, 1951 [March 25, 1950], No. 7523/50. Classes 120(i) and 120(ii) A device confining a length of roving passing between feed and drafting rollers and preventing rotation of the length about its own axis has a channel of a cross-sectional shape such that at least a part of either or both sides of the channel is inclined with respect to the median plane of the device and the channel is partially closed by inwardly projecting lips. The channel 23 may be of substantially V-shape, as in Fig. 5, and the entrance to the channel may be flared. Figs. 6, 7 and 8 illustrate other suitable cross-sections. The device, referred to as a "flume," has particular application in association with the drafting apparatus described in Specification 671,633.
