A ring frame for "green" or retled flax or similar fibres comprises a water trough 1 and a drafting head 2 having a pair of co-operating aprons 21, 22 each passing around the respective retaining roller 16, 17. The belts are guided by plates 26, 27 about the end of which the aprons are reversed.
