Abstract
909,818. Combing machines; roller clearers. WHITIN MACHINE WORKS. May 5, 1961 [May 13, 1960], No. 16453/61. Classes 120 (1) and 120 (2). A combing machine has means for directing air jets against the edges of the fibre web passing between the detaching rollers in order to keep the fibres at the edges in alignment with those nearer the centre of the web. The air is supplied through pipes 17. Where two upper rollers are employed as part of the detaching mechanism of the combing machine a stripper 36 prevents fibres from lapping on the roll 32 and also prevents air from blowing fibres between the two upper rolls.
