Abstract

1321809 Stopping fibre feed to open-end spinning machines MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 21 July 1971 [23 July 1970] 34183/71 Headings D1N and DID In open end spinning machines where sliver is opened by a spiked combing roll 3, feed to the combing roll of an individual spinning station is interrupted in the event of end breakage &c by removing a fibre beard at the end of the sliver from the action area of the combing roll 3. This may be achieved by moving a baffle 10, Fig. 2, pivoted concentrically with the roll 3 into the region between the sliver beard and the combing roll. Alternatively the whole feed device may be pivoted away from the combing roll, Fig. 4, (not shown). If a double apron feeding device is employed the sliver beard may be withdrawn by reversing the direction of feed, Figs. 5 and 6, (not shown). In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 7, suction is applied to a porous region 19 adjacent the combing roll 3 to lift the sliver beard clear of the same.
