Abstract

1330789 Piecing and replacing travellers on ring spinning devices SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 20 Oct 1971 [22 Oct 1970] 48686/71 Heading DID An automatic piecing device for a ring spinning machine comprises means for locating and removing the traveller and replacing it by a new ring. As described, a travelling unit stops at a spindle, when a photocell on the unit detects a broken yarn at the spindle. A platform carrying the traveller replacing device is raised to the level of the ring rail. An auxilliary length of yarn H is then fed to the spindle station and laid in the replacement traveller. The original traveller is located and pushed onto a traveller ejector (60 or 600 Fig. 2 not shown) which has been placed against the ring, and is thereby ejected and collected (at 65) by the travelling unit. The replacement traveller already threaded with the auxilliary yarn, is then swung down onto the ring. The arm which carried the replacement traveller swings back and picks up another traveller from a store (66) ready for the next piecing operation. The piecing operation can be performed as described in Specification 1296936.
