Abstract

1399527 Donning and doffing MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 16 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 28221/72 Heading DID The doffing and donning operation on a ring spinning machine is monitored after doffing by a beam of light 28 directed along and above the row of spindles but within an area corresponding to the outer diameter of the bobbin tubes. In the preferred embodiment, if the light beam is interrupted by an undoffed bobbin, the automatic doffing and donning process is stopped. The light beam may be wholly or partially interrupted. After donning of the empty bobbins, the light source can be switched on again and if no light reaches the light-detector, i.e. donning is complete, the spinning machine is started. The bobbins are doffed and donned by vertically moving grippers. The bobbins are supplied and removed by a conveyor at the base of the machine.
