Abstract

979,444. Sliver guides; piecing carded webs. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A. G. Feb. 2, 1962 [Feb. 8, 1961], No. 4123/62. Heading D1N. A guide for a carding machine web is arranged with a long and a short side so that when the web is broken by stopping the feed rollers and doffer followed by restarting these members, the freshly formed web will overlap the edge of the preceding web being drawn along the long side of the guide. The guide has marginal portions 9, 10 rolled or bent upwards to lead the web to a funnel and to calender rollers 12. The sliver leaving the calender rollers is received by an endless flexible tubular conveyer element in the form of a longitudinally slit tube.
