Abstract

946,172. Drafting apron cradles. MACDONALD & SONS Inc. April 17, 1962 [April 19, 1961],No. 14801/62. Heading D1D. In a drafting apron cradle comprising side plates 12 & 13, each of which has inward projections 14, 17 and 15, 18 respectively, the projections which are formed integral with their respective side plates, abut to space the side plates. The two halves of the cradle are held together by rods 16, 19 which may be an interference fit in aligned holes in the projections or may have recesses adjacent their ends to be engaged by rings formed on the inside wall of the holes. Intermediate rolls fit into notches 23, 24 in the side plates and tensors for the aprons which pass about these rolls rest on either side of the lugs 27. The inner projections 17, 18 are flattened at 20 to provide a fibre deflecting table and are extended at 21, 22 so as to laterally guide the sliver running through the apparatus. The side plates and projections are preferably made of a plastics material e.g. "DELRIN" (Registered Trade Mark) and are smoothed to prevent accumulation of fly.
