717,521. Combined textile drawing and twisting apparatus. HADWICH, F. Jan. 24. 1952 [Jan. 24, 1951], No. 1996/52. Class 120(2) A twisting head for spinning and twisting frames has delivery rollers provided with a housing having curved surfaces that lie close to the rollers beyond their nip to prevent rovings lapping on the rollers. Lateral passages may be formed in the housing to allow accumulations of fluff and dirt to be thrown out by centrifugal force. The housing 1 may be made in two parts, the upper part including roving conductor 2 which supports a helical gear 3 driven from a gear 7 and having a toothed annulus 4 driving the rollers 6. An extension 10 of the lower part of the housing] has a delivery duct 12 of circular cross-section and is formed with teeth 8 which mesh with a driving gear 9. Between the upper and.lower parts of the housing, lateral passages 15 are provided by means of vertical webs 17 which are parallel over their middle portions and diverge at their outer ends. These passages 15 are of greater width than the diameter of the top of the duct 12 and guide surfaces 13 extend upwardly from the bases of the passages towards the nip of the rollers 6. The clearance between the surfaces 13 and the rollers 6 is small enough to prevent lapping and 0.02 millimetres is said to be satisfactory. The rollers 6 are stated to be resilient.
