Abstract

759,781. Centrifugal spinning- machines; fibre drafting arrangements. GARDELLA, A., and GARDELLA, C. Dec. 16, 1953 [Dec. 19, 1952], No. 34986/53. Class 120 (2). Long and coarse vegetable fibres are spun by drawing a sliver with a draft of at least thirty, controlling the fibres during drawing, and passing the drawn thread through a fibre-controlling friction guide located between the drawing unit and a centrifugal spinning can. In a preferred form of machine, spinning cans 20 are staggered and are driven from pulleys 22 by belts 23. Each can 20 supports a container 24 provided with a disc 25 for facilitating removal of thread packages formed within the container 24, which is held within the can 20 by latching means that can be released automatically for doffing. In each drafting unit there is a sliver controlling device comprising a pair of belts 6, 7, the inner runs of which are pressed together by blade springs 8, Fig. 2, fastened by their upper ends to frame parts 9. A sliver guide 10 is inserted intermediate the belts 6, 7 and the delivery rollers 4, 5. The tubular thread guide 11 is provided with thread contacting friction elements as described in Specification 759,782.
