Abstract

722,807. Traveller for ring frame. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J. Sept. 30, 1952 [July 3, 1951], No. 15785/51. Class 120 (2). In a traveller made from a synthetic wearresisting plastic the arm, around which the yarn passes, broadens out into an enlarged foot bearing against the inside of the ring, the bearing area of the foot in conjunction with the centrifugal force acting on the traveller during spinning, being such as to impart the necessary drag to the yarn being spun while reducing the rate of wear of the traveller. As shown the traveller 1 is of C-shaped configuration and increases in breadth from a comparatively narrow tip 3 at the outside of the ring 4 towards the foot 2 on the inside of the ring. The foot 2 is formed with a sloping shoulder 5 so that when the traveller is running at its natural angle the shoulder 5 is substantially parallel with the surface of inner flange of the ring as shown at 7.
