Abstract

728,595. Ring spinning travellers. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J. March 6, 1953 [March 6, 1952], No. 5927/52. Class 120(2). A ring spinning traveller has the arm around which the yarn passes terminating in a relatively heavy foot portion having a surface of a wear resisting plastic bearing against the inner surface of the ring and formed with a shoulder bearing against the underside of a flange on the ring, the traveller being so proportioned that the centre of gravity lies at or below the said shoulder when in the spinning position. As shown 1 is the loop-shaped arm and 3 is the foot portion. The foot portion 3 is formed with a shoulder 5 which bears against the underside of the inner flange 6 of the ring 7. The part 4 of the arm 1 is of reduced thickness so as to leave the maximum possible space between the rotating traveller and the bobbin and also to allow the traveller to be sprung on to or off the ring without difficulty The traveller may be formed wholly of nylon or the arm 1 may be of metal and attached to a foot portion 3 of wear-resisting material. Specifications 627,157, 627,370, 627,371, 627,372, 627,373, 627,374, 627,375 and 722,807 are referred to.
