Abstract

685,689. Spinning spindle bearings. AKT.- GES. J. J. RIETER & CIE. April 13, 1949 [Jan. 14, 1949], No. 10066/49. Class 12 (i). A spinning spindle bearing arrangement comprises a spherically mounted bolster-head 1 which is pressed against the spindle housing by a spring 7 and connected to the footstep bearing 3 by means of a yielding sleeve 2, so as to allow a limited free movement of the step bearing relative to the sleeve. The sleeve 2 also provides means for withdrawing the step bearing from the housing. The spring 7 is disposed between a flange 13 on the upper end of the sleeve 2, and a collar 5 on the neck portion of the head 1. Diametrically opposite snugs 16 on the lower end of the sleeve 2 engage holes 10 arranged in the step 3. A screw 18 retains the composite bearing structure in the housing 17. In a modification the lower end of the sleeve 2 has an inwardly projecting portion 12 which engages an annular groove 11 in the step 3.
