Abstract

766,697. Traveller for textile spinning rings. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON COMBE BARBOUR, Ltd. May 20, 1955 [July 2, 1954], No. 19381/54. Class 120 (2). A traveller for a conical ring, that is one having a triangular cross-section, is of partially triangular form and comprises at least a base portion and a perpendicular portion, the latter being thickened both in a radial and in a circumferential direction with reference to the ring, and is composed of a non-metallic material such as a synthetic resin. As shown the traveller is of triangular form having the base 1 of substantially uniform thickness but with a width expanding from the top and a perpendicular which increases downwards both in width and thickness to the line A-B. The hypotenuse is represented by the short hooked extensions 3,4 and the inner faces of both the perpendicular and the base are made smooth and of similar form to the inner surfaces of the ring 5. The traveller may be made of a synthetic resin such, for example, as nylon. Instead of the increase in width being arranged symmetrically as shown it may be arranged asymmetrically to avoid or reduce tilting of the traveller during use. In a further embodiment the lower end of the traveller is formed with a flat surface which engages a step formed on the inside surface of the ring. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 627,157 627,370, 627,371, 627,372, 627,373, 627,374 and 627,375.
