Abstract
937,405. Carding machines; card clothing. F. REITERER, L. WINDISCH, and J. NIFERECKER. Dec. 4, 1959 [Dec. 4, 1958; Oct. 27, 1959], No. 41371/59. Classes 120 (1) and 120 (3). Card clothing is formed with recesses along one edge of its base so that when it is wound on a perforated cylinder air can be passed through the cylinder and clothing. The clothing may be entirely of metal or the base may be formed of leather or a plastic material. In Fig. 12 is illustrated a cylinder wall 1 and metallic clothing formed with recesses 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>11</SP> between blocks or spacers 5, 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>11</SP>. Teeth may be symmetrical in profile with the recesses providing apertures parallel to the axis of the teeth, Fig. 4a, or the teeth may be asymmetrical with apertures normal to the cylinder surface or sloping relative to it, either in the direction of slope of the teeth or in the opposite direction, Fig. 8a. The apertures also may be curved or conical.
