Abstract
703,064. Swings. MONK, L. May 7, 1951 [May 15, 1950], No. 12038/50. Class 132(1) A swing has a clamp, which can be inserted between fixed supports, e.g. the jambs of a door, and comprises a sprung clamping part to hold the clamp in position when the swing is not loaded and means for positively expanding the clamp against the supports to hold it in position when the swing is loaded. As shown, channel section members 1, 2 carry rubber pads 19 to engage the supports and are joined by a bolt 4 which, at one end, is threaded into a block 5 secured to member 1 and at the other, end forms a. plunger 7 against a spring 8 in a cylinder 9 integral with a block 10 secured to member 2. A pin and slot connection 12 guides plunger 7 and a sleeve 14 threaded on bolt 4 can be screwed, with a washer, up against the end of cylinder 9 so as to hold the clamp tightly against the supports. Swing ropes 17 are suspended from the members 1, 2 as shown in Fig. 1.
