Abstract
600,395. Hinges. STOCKER, F. W., and HARRIS, E. C. Dec. 7, 1945, No. 33095. [Class 65 (ii)] A hinge of the type in which the hinge pin is adapted to act as a torsion spring is provided with means for adjustably fixing the end of the hinge pin to the socket in which said end is mounted. The hinge pin 3, which may comprise one or more longitudinal parts, is clamped at one end to the interconnected sockets 2 by a sleeve 4 screwed internally and provided with a conical bore 5. The hinge pin is clamped similarly at the other end to the sockets 1. A collar 7 secured to the hinge pin, is provided to facilitate the initial stressing of the latter. In a modification, a ratchet-and-pawl device is substituted for the clamping sleeve.
