Abstract
594,715. Door-operating appliances hinges. SPORRI, K. Jan. 29, 1945, No. 2259. Convention date, March 21, 1944. Addition to 587,365. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii)] In a rising hinge combined with a fluid check, the check piston 5 is carried by the lower end of the hinge pin 4, which, in the form shown, has a part 16 with an inclined bearing surface to engage a corresponding surface on a ring 17 fixed in the hinge barrel to give the rising action. In a modification, the part 16 has a multiple screw-thread engaging corresponding thread in the hinge barrel, and in this form the part 16 may be replaced by a transverse pin engaging the fixed screw-thread. A spring plunger 11 in the moving part of the hinge engages a recess in a part 13 to hold the door open ; the part 13 may be integral with or separate from the fixed hinge member, and may be movable so that the holding action is optional.
