Abstract

596,533. Diaphragm valves. PEARSON, G. H..July 30, 1945, No. 19415. [Class 135] The valve diaphragm 11 is adjusted relatively to its annular seat 5 by a threaded spindle 6 connected non-rotatably to a member 12 and formed with flats 23 engaging the sides of the reduced part of an undercut slot in the member to which the diaphragm is secured by a setscrew 13. The spindle is raised and lowered by the rotation of a sleeve 18 secured by a pin 20 to a hand wheel. The sleeve may be loaded with grease through the end thereof which is closed by a plug 21. A ferrule 15 around the screw 13 limits the compression of the diaphragm, and a web 22 prevents the diaphragm from being squeezed too tightly when the valve is closed.
