[Class 44] Relates to a clamping device, for plates to be connected by riveting &c. of the type having a pin 2 sliding in a holder 3 and having a cutaway portion 2b leaving a clamping-shoulder 2a and consists in effecting the initial clamping by a spring 5 confined between a flange 10a on the shrouding member 10 and a collar 7 adjustably mounted on the screwed end of the pin. The spring is weak enough so that a special tool is not required to compress it and the clamping pressure is augmented when required by a nut 4 bearing against the rear of the holder. The shrouding-member 10 is made separate from the holder, the bore of which terminates in a shoulder 6 with an eccentric hole to accommodate the shroud 10 and reduced part 2b of the pin ; use of a separate closing plate being thus avoided.
