Abstract

839,089. Clamps. BAYSWATER MOTORS Ltd., and BARDOLPH & PARTNERS Ltd., J. F. Oct. 13, 1958 [Dec. 7, 1957], No. 38135/57. Class 44 A clamp for holding plates 13, 14, Fig. 3, together during riveting, &c., has a pin 6 slidably mounted in a holder fitted at one end with a bush 2, the pin being recessed so as to form an arcuate surface 5, and a shoulder 11. The holder 1 has eccentric cylindrical and arcuate portions 3, 7 respectively mating with concentric bores 9, 4 of the bush 2, the reduced portion 5 of the pin also being, received. by the bore 4. In use, holes 15 in the plates are engaged with the recess 5 of the pin 10 which, having a screw-threaded portion 16 engaged by a nut 19, is moved axially to trap the plates between the shoulder 11 and a face 12 of the bush 2. The pin, which may be spring-urged, has a stop 17 to prevent removal of the nut. The bush may be made of synthetic plastic material, rubber or metal and, as an alternative, Fig. 5, may have an eccentric bore 4<SP>1</SP> relatively to a concentric bore in the holder.
