Abstract

597,415. Beam compasses. BENTLEY, E.H. May 15, 1945, No. 12152. [Class 97 (iii)] The pencii holder 12 slides on and may be clamped at 20 to a sleeve 8 which in turn slides on the beam 3 and may be clamped thereto by a screw 9 passing through the sleeve and engaging a flat on the beam. A screw 14 is connected to the holder 12 and engages a nut or wheel 15 mounted between lugs 10 on the sleeve to enable fine adjustment of the holder along the sleeve. The clamping nut 20 actuates a spring pressed plunger engaging a flat on the sleeve thus providing adjustable frictional restraint during the initial adjustment before a positive locking pressure is applied. The compass point holder is adjustable along the beam and is secured by a screw engaging the flat. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 364,025.
