Abstract

614,922. Releasable fastenings; door stays. BAILEY, A., and DOCKING, S. J. Oct. 29, 1945, No. 28627. [Classes 44 and 65 (i)] A self-closing door is held in the full-open position by a device comprising a pair of main parts, one of which is adapted to be moved by hand about a horizontal axis to engage the other, the said parts being disengageable one from the other by a light tug or pull exerted on the door. As shown, the first main part comprises a pivoted loop 2. The second main part comprises hinged-together plates 4 and 6, the former carrying a tongue 8 which bears against a leaf-spring 5 carried by the latter. The loop engages plate 4, which is displaceable against the resistance of the spring. In a modification a pivoted rod has a bulbous end held releasably in a recess by an annulus of rubber which is retained in place by a metal washer. Specification 17250/03, [Class 44], is referred to.
