Abstract

606,729. Hinges; windowstays. DUNFORD, W., and INGRAM, R. Jan. 17, 1946, No. 1621. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii)] A stay for holding windows &c. in open positions comprises an angularly movable arm 6, having means for slidably connecting it to the window &c., and having a boss 5 rotatably mounted on a central pin 3 projecting up from a fixed base part for attaching to a fixed window frame &c., the said boss 5 and base part 1 having sets of teeth or projections 15, 16 held in engagement by nut 20. The stay is characterised in that the arm 6 is pivotally jointed to a slide 12 engaging behind a slotted guide member 7 adapted to be fixed to the window &c., the guide member 7 having a rear recess 9 and a longitudinal raised portion 8 in which a slot 10 is formed, the slide 13 engaging the rear recess 9 and having a lug 12 engaging and movable along the slot 10 in the guide member. The teeth 16 on the base part 1 may be formed on a separate ring secured to the base or they may be integral with the base.
