Class 20(i) A portable support for a pipe vice, toolholder &c. which can be erected between door jambs or other vertical supports comprises a bar of L-section to one end of which is secured an outwardly sprung clamping member, screw means for supplementing the clamping action being provided. An L-section member 2 to which the vice 1 is bolted has adjustably secured thereto by bolts 9 a block 6 carrying a hollow cylindrical member 10 in which slides a rod 11 pressed outwardly by a spring 13, a pin and slot connection 12 limiting the movement of the rod. The projecting part of the rod 11 is screwthreaded for engagement with an intern- .ally threaded, knurled sleeve 19 which is screwed into abutment with the cylinder 10 to hold the parts expanded. Rubberpadded metal plates 3 and 14 at the ends of the support engage with the door jambs 5, the plate 14 being universally mounted.
