Abstract

603,464. Vices. BOOTH, A. Oct. 31, 1945, No. 28850. [Class 61 (ii)] A chuck-like hand-vice consists of a metal sleeve a having at one end a split metal rod c forming the jaws of a chuck and at the other a screw for withdrawing the chuck into the tube to close the jaws. The tube a is chamfered at the jaws end to form an abutment which closes the jaws c. The rod from which the jaws c are made is provided with a screwed stem e at the end remote from the jaws and this coacts with a nut f to draw the jaws c into the tube a. The tube a is provided with a locating slot b, and a pin d on the jaws sliding in this slot prevents rotational movement of the jaws. The vice may be mounted on a bracket attached to the base of an electric lamp stand.
