Abstract

746,178. Pit props and roof bars. GULLICK, Ltd., and SEAMAN, T. Nov. 18, 1953 [Nov. 22, 1952; Feb. 19, 1953], Nos. 29565/52 and 4621/53. Class 20(2). The head of a pit prop has a pressure fluid ram 11, 18 adapted to clamp a roof bar against the mine roof. The head comprises a ram cylinder 11 carrying members 13 adapted to be held against the roof by the prop 10. The roof bar rests on the ram piston 18 onto which it is adapted to be slid forward before being clamped. Fig. 1 of the Provisional Specification not shown) shows this prop head in combination with the hydraulic prop described in Specifications 720,361 and 720,383, the head engaging the prop by a part spherical seating to allow it to adapt itself to unevenness in roof and floor. A release valve for the prop head of this modification may be screwed in the head in place of the screw holding the ram cup leather in place. The head may be hung from and slid along the roof bar by clips.
