Class 20(2) The head of an hydraulic telescopic pit prop has pivoted on a pivot 19 a roof bar 18 adapted to be forced against the roof by an hydraulic piston 16 engaging a lug 20 on the roof bar. Two roof bars are shown operated by two pistons 16 in the same cylinder which is supplied through a check valve from the pressure chamber of the pit prop. In a modification a single pivoted bar is swung against the roof by a wedge operated by a spring returned fluid pressure operated piston.
