Abstract

856,720. Mine roof supports. DOBSON Ltd., W. E. & F. July 25, 1957 [Aug. 18, 1956], No. 25300/56. Class 20(2). A mine roof support comprising. two hydraulic props 2, 3 joined by a base 1 and a cross bar 4 has, pivoted at 9 to a fork end of the cross bar 4, a cantilever 8 which can be urged against the roof by a cylinder 11 and piston 14, respectively, secured to the bar 4 and acting on an abutment 8b on the cantilever 8. The cylinder is hydraulically connected to the pressure chambers of the props 2. 3 and the hydraulic system is provided with relief valves 5, 6 which may also be released by a mechanism 7. An advancing cylinder and piston may be connected to the base 1. Specifications 785,470, 854,967 and 856,719 are referred to.
