845,727. Mine roof supports. DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd. July 15, 1958 [July 15, 1957], No. 22394/57. Class 20(2) A mine roof frame comprises three props 9 carrying a roof bar 35 and mounted on a base 12 which has a skid plate, the front 23 of which is wider than the rear 24 in order to prevent damage to an advancing jack contained in the base 12 on sinking of the frame under roof pressure. The jack comprises a cylinder 5 mounted in a universal coupling 27 and containing a piston 25 having a forked head 3 pivoted at 29 to a pin 4a on a conveyer 1. A shield 31 is slotted over a pin 33 to move with the piston 25. Specification 823,127 is referred to.
