Abstract
702,824. Cathode materials and processing. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 21, 1951 [Feb. 23, 1950], No. 4616/50. Class 39(1) A photo-electric or secondary-electron-emitting electrode is prepared by coating a support with layers of bismuth, silver and bismuth and exposing the electrode to oxygen and alkali metal. The first bismuth layer on a transparent support may reduce the light transmission to 75 per cent, the first silver layer to 65, the second bismuth layer to 55 and a second silver layer to 50. Oxidation will restore transmission to 55 before application of caesium during baking. Superficial oxidation may be effected after the envelope has been cooled.
