Abstract
426,389. Photo-electric cells. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Dec.' 4, 1934, No. 34871. Convention date, March 14. [Class 39 (i)] In a photo-electric cell having an anode, a cathode, and an auxiliary electrode for producing secondary electrons, the auxiliary elec. trode and the cathode are connected by a high resistance. As shown, the cathode 2 and the auxiliary electrode 3 consist of a layer of caesium or other alkali metal on oxidized silver mirrors, and the auxiliary electrode is formed with a window 4 or is transparent. The anode 5 consists of metal gauze. The resistance 9, of the order of 5 to 100, and preferably 53 megohms, may be mounted in the envelope or cap, two contact pins only being required.
