375,614. Photo-electric cells. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Sept. 9, 1931, No. 25308. Convention date, Sept. 27. 1930. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i).] Photo-electric material such as an alkali or alkaline earth metal is supported on a layer of a chemical compound which is transparent to light and is applied to a non-metallic support, such as the envelope, which is also transparent. Caesium may be deposited on a thin layer of calcium fluoride, and the cell heated so that caesium penetrates into the layer ; or particles of tungsten may be incorporated in the layer. In another cell, caesium is deposited on caesium oxide on an etched glass envelope. Potassium may be deposited on sodium chloride. Specification 326,200, [Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.], is referred to.
