Abstract
487,921. Photo-electric cells. FARNSWORTH TELEVISION, Inc. Aug. 5, 1937, No. 21638. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] A translucent photo-electric surface is formed by depositing an opaque layer of silver on a glass or other translucent wall under conditions which provide occlusion of moisture, heating the layer until it becomes light transmitting and substantially nonconducting, oxidizing the film, and depositing an alkali metal, such as caesium, until the film again becomes conducting. The occlusion of moisture may be effected by depositing the film on the supporting surface which has been exposed at ordinary temperatures and degrees of humidity, or by depositing it from a solution. The drawing shows the application to a photoelectric cell in which the light is projected on the outer surface of the cell on which the photo-electric cathode 3 is deposited and electrons are emitted from the inner surface facing the anode 2.
