Abstract

464,919. Television transmitters. LUBSZYNSKI, H. G. Sept. 24, 1935, No. 26497. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] An electrostatic image is formed on a doublesided mosaic 2 of insulated conducting elements which are periodically restored to a fixed datum potential by scanning with a light beam 9 which produces a transference of electrons between the elements and an auxiliary electrode 4, and the restoration produces signals in a circuit 5 associated with a plate which is capacitively associated with the mosaic. The scanning light beam falling on the transparent photo-electric electrode 4 produces low-velocity electrons which discharge the positive charges on the elements of the mosaic which have accumulated through the emission of photo-electrons emitted to an annular anode 3 under the action of the optical image. The signal plate is the continuous grid on which the photo-electric mosaic is formed as described in Specification 447,824. According to modifications : the image is projected on a photo-electric electrode and an electronic image focused on the mosaic, Fig. 2 (not shown) ; the insulation between the elements of the mosaic projects beyond the elements and the screen 4 is in contact with the mosaic screen, Fig. 3 (not shown) ; a positive electrostatic image is formed on the mosaic, Fig. 4 (not shown). The scanning light may be produced by projecting the light from a cathode-ray tube on the electrode 4, or the fluorescent screen may be close to, or on, the electrode 4, and the cathode-ray gun in the same envelope. Specifications 442,666, 455,085, and 457,493 also are referred to.
