[Class 39 (i)] In a photo-electric cell wherein the output is amplified by secondary emission, the photo-cathode 1 is translucent ; the secondary emitting electrode 3 may also be constructed as a photo-cathode and may also be translucent. Each electrode may then be used optionally for either purpose. The photo-cathode consists of thin metal layer, an oxide intermediate layer and an alkali metal such as caesium. The anode 2 is central. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications, 456,728, 457,493, and 475,995.
