Abstract

694,836. Sewing-machines. MEFINA SOC. ANON. Sept. 20, 1951 [Nov. 6, 1950], No. 22048/51. Class 112. Means are provided in the head of the machine for adjustment of the needle in the line of feed. In the zig-zag-stitching machine shown, the needle-bar gate 2 is mounted on a spindle 3 which has an upper bearing 8 carried on a pivot 9 and its lower bearing 4 adjustably secured on the machine head by a clamping screw 6; an extension of the bearing 4 is engaged by a screw 16 with an eccentric portion whereby horizontal adjustment of the bearing is effected. The eccentric adjustment device may be replaced by a screw mechanism. The bearing 8 may be adjustably mounted in the same way as the lower bearing. In a machine of the ordinary type, the needle-bar guides would be mounted in the same way as the bearings 4, 8 in the machine described. The presser-bar may be guided in the member 4, as shown, or in fixed guides.
