Abstract
1392943 Needle bar adjustment SINGER CO 18 Aug 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 38549/72 Heading DIG A sewing machine comprises a frame 16, a needle bar 17 driven by shaft 20 and means 21-26 to reciprocate in a gate 43 adjustably mounted at 44 in the frame, and has a slotted guide member 60 slidably co-operating with a transverse pin 28 on the needle bar, the member 60 serving also as a clamp to secure the gate to the frame. The gate is swingable about stud 44 to align the needle 14 with its hole 13, the stud being secured by one or more set screws 46, this being additional to the securing effected by the clamping action of member 60. The latter is pivoted to the foot of the gate by bush 69 and screw 65, a transverse bar (63, Fig. 1 not shown) having oversize holes through which clamp screws (71) pass into threaded bores in the frame 16 to clamp the gate in the selected position.
