The feed-dog is mounted, by means providing for angular adjustment in a plane perpendicular to the main shaft, on a bracket which is adjustably connected to the reciprocating feed-bar actuated by the shaft, the bracket being moved up and down by means connected to the shaft; in the machine described the connection between the bracket and the feed-bar provides for adjustment longitudinally of the latter, and the feed-dog is also adjustable vertically. The feed-bar 23 is pivotally attached at one end to a rocker 42 which is oscillated from an eccentric on the shaft 5 through a pitman 41 connected to the rocker at a selected point in an arcuate slot 43 therein, and at its other end, which overhangs to one side, it has at the side a downward flange secured to the upper end of a semi-circular bracket 24 connected by a pitman 66 to an eccentric 67 whereby the bracket is reciprocated vertically; the upper end of the bracket has a horizontal ridge engaging a groove in the feed-bar, flange, and a horizontal slot through which a securing screw 26 passes into a hole in the flange. The shank of the feed-dog 17 fits in a vertical groove in a holder 27 and has a vertical slot to receive a screw 37 which passes through a hole in the holder and enters the bracket 24, whereby the feed-dog is secured in vertically-adjusted position on the holder; the screw 37 provides a pivot for the holder, which is clamped in angularly-adjusted position on the bracket by a screw 30 passing through an arcuate slot in the holder. A vertical screw 64 passing through the holder 27 bears against the underside of the feed-dog to assist in preventing tilting thereof. Needle-guards. An L-shaped guard 36 is secured to the feed-dog holder 27 by the screw 37 that holds the dog, a member having horizontal and vertical channels on its respective sides to receive the shanks of the needle-guard 36 and feed-dog 17 being interposed between these two members.
