Abstract

1,264,736. Sewing machines. DURKOPPWERKE G.m.b.H. 16 June, 1970 [3 July, 1969], No. 29247/70. Heading DIG. In a lockstitch sewing machine with a thread cutter (not shown), to provide a needle thread supply for seam commencement, a rod 9 which is connected to actuating means for the thread cutter is operative directly before the cutting of the sewing threads to actuate in sequence a lever 14 which removes the thread tension (by engaging a thread tensioner 8), and a lever 16 with an eyelet which engages the needle thread between two fixed eyelets 5, 5a, disposed between a draw-off lever 3 and the needle eye, and draws out some thread. The lever 14 is actuated by an arm 11 coupled by adjustable pins 10, to the rod 9, and the lever 16 is actuated by a pin 16a of the lever being engaged by the end of a slot in the rod. The stroke of the eyelet is adjustable by means of an eccentric pivot pin 15 for the lever 16. The rod 9 may be connected by linkage to the thread cutter or actuated by a pneumatic ram or an electromaget connected to the cutter actuating means.
