Abstract

1,067,009. Sewing machines. SINGER CO. Sept. 6, 1965 [Sept. 10, 1964], No. 37962/65. Heading D1G. A sewing machine needle clamp for retaining one or two needles in a slot in the needle bar comprises a knurled sleeve 20, having an eccentric bore receiving the bar and transverse off-centre pin 72, biased in a clockwise direction by spring 74 to urge the pin against the needle shank. Rotation of the sleeve against the spring action (Fig. 5, not shown) releases t h e needle. In a modification the clamp may be assembled, before the needle bar is mounted in the machine, utilising a smooth sleeve and completed afterwards by addition of a tight fitting knurled ring.
