Abstract

1307879 Attaching needles UNION SPECIAL MACHINE CO 2 July 1970 [3 July 1969] 32109/70 Heading D1G A needle carrier 15 is releasably connectible to the oscillating shaft 14 of a blind stitching or overedge sewing machine, so that the carrier and needle may be swung to one side for ease of threading. The carrier comprises a hub 18 encircling the shaft and an arm 19 bored to receive a spring biassed plunger 23 which may be withdrawn from a hole 25 in the shaft by use of a cross pin 26 to permit the carrier to be swung about the shaft to the position shown. The plunger 23 and hole 25 may be tapered as shown or may be plain, (Fig. 8, not shown). A plate 32 providing a thread guide also acts as a stop for the needle 30 secured by the screw 31.
