Abstract

1464473 Cutting threads, needle plate H SCHIPS 3 May 1974 [7 May 1973] 19474/74 Heading DIG A needle or stitch plate 3 and a feed plate 5 are provided with knife edges 12 (and 23, Fig. 3 not shown) which co-operate to sever a thread 19 drawn around the work 12 to be stitched and down a pneumatic (vacuum) tube 13 when the work is positioned prior to stitching. The plate 3 is of trapezoidal section and is engaged by the sloping sides of a slot 6 in the feed plate to provide a sliding dovetail connection therebetween. The needle 9 reciprocates through a guide 10.
