Abstract

1,196,920. Sewing-machine. JERSEYKAPWOOD Ltd. 12 Oct., 1967 [23 Nov., 1966], No. 43429/69. Divided out of 1,196,919 Heading D1G. A binding strip 14 is folded into U-shape by a folding guide 19 to receive within the inturned arms of the U an edge of a garment 13 positioned by an edge guide 16, and a tensioned elastic strip 15 which initially passes between tensioning rollers 17 and over guides 18. The covered edge passes through a channel in the presser foot 11 of a sewing machine 10 to twin needles, which produce seams 11a, 11b one on each side of the elastic strip to secure the garment to the binding strip and to retain the elastic strip within the binding strip, the completed work being drawn off by puller feed rollers 12.
