Abstract

1,028,760. Sewing machines. SINGER CO. Feb. 2, 1965 [Feb. 11, 1964], No. 4397/65. Heading D1G. [Also in Division E2] A sewing machine presser foot has a shank portion which is received within a recess formed in the end of a presser bar, and is locked thereto by means associated with a sleeve biased for turning movement about the presser bar. A presser foot 22 has a rectangular shank 20 which is received in a rectangular slot 18 formed axially in the lower end of a presser bar 16. A sleeve 30, journalled on the lower end of the presser bar, carries a locking pin 38 provided with a handle 44. Sleeve 30 is spring-biased clockwise, whereby pin 38 engages a notch 60 formed at one corner of shank 20 to lock the latter in slot 18. Sleeve 30 may be turned counter-clockwise to position pin 38 in a clearance slot 24 formed in the presser bar for releasing shank 20.
