[Class 112] Overhead sewing-machines, scale-pan type; feed by wheels and the like.-In a cup-feed sewing-machine for seaming hosiery, auxiliary feed means engaging the seam are provided in rear of the feedcups to ensure that the work is drawn evenly off the chaining finger and to avoid damage to the work adjacent to the seam by drag of the seam or by the relatively heavy pressure of the feed-cups which would otherwise be required. In the embodiment shown, the auxiliary rollers 160, 161 are carried at a level a little above that of the feed-cups by a bracket 176, 180, and are driven at the same peripheral speed as the feed-cups by a gear on the feed-cup shaft engaging a gear 170 on a shaft 171 in the bracket head 180, this shaft carrying a gear 195 which meshes directly with a pinion 199 on the spindle of the roller 161 and drives a pinion 212 on the spindle of the roller 160 through a train of gears to allow for slight movement of the latter roller away from the former. The spindle of the roller 160 is mounted in a block 214 slidable in a slot in the bracket head 180 under the pressure of a spring 250 acting through a bell-crank 243 pivoted on the head 180 at 244. The machine has the usual stitch-forming end needle-guiding devices, and a slightly modified fixed thread-cutter, all of which are described in detail.
