Abstract

629,924. Sewing-machines. JONES SEWING MACHINE CO., Ltd., JEFFERSON, S., and GRIFFITHS, F. Dec. 5, 1947, No. 32112. [Class 112] The bobbin-winding spindle 5 projects from the standard 2, and is actuated by means of an external hand crank 15 through spur and pinion wheels 14, 12 located within the upright. The spindle 5 is eccentrically mounted in a rotatable bush 3 provided with an actuating arm 10 and a finger 20. The finger engages a bevel wheel 18 slidable on but rotating with the needle and looptaker drive shaft 17. The bevel wheel is adapted to engage a bevel wheel 16 compounded with the spur wheel, the arrangement being such that when the bobbin is driven the needle and looptaker drive is idle, and when the needle and loop-taker are driven the bobbin is idle.
