Abstract

638,685. Sewing-machines. JONES SEWING MACHINE CO., Ltd., JEFFERSON, S., and GRIFFITHS, F. Dec. 15, 1947, No. 32938. [Class 112] [Also in Group IX] Means for winding thread on shuttle bobbins comprises a sewing machine driving shaft, e.g. an electric motor shaft 3, having a non-slidable driving pulley 1 for driving the sewing machine by a suitable belt &c. the pulley 1 having a slot or cavity 8 which is engaged by one arm 10 of a spring-loaded lever pivotally mounted at 12 in a diametrical slot 9 in the shaft 3 of the motor &c., and the other arm 11 of the lever projecting from the periphery of the shaft 3, so that when a bobbin 13 is pushed thereon, it acts on the arm 11 and rocks the arm 10 out of the slot 8 so leaving the pulley 1 free and stationary whilst the shaft 3 drives the bobbin for winding on thread.
